We started Transtort in 2005 in order to decrease the amount of tortoises
being transported by couriers in rather an unacceptable way.
Sometimes, couriers are not aware that they have a living animal in their care. The boxes are occasionally
labelled up with a small sticker saying live tortoise, not many delivery drivers take note of this. Animals have been thrown
about during transit, and have arrived at their new home in a rather distressed way. Some have arrived covered in urine and
faeces. You can not guarantee how long these tortoises have been in these small boxes and the time period that they have spent
in a depot waiting to be dispatched.
This is why we formed TransTort, to provide a personal service to caring tortoise owners. We also
have an associated Tortoise forum which gives out help and advice should you wish to transport your tortoise yourself
this can be found at;
